As the weather shifts and we fully embrace the warmer temperatures, often the coldness of winter stays with us. A change in seasons doesn't always mean a change in our personal circumstances. The Lord promises good things to those who love Him and follow after His ways. This can be difficult to remember if we've faced difficult things over these first few months of the new year.
The Word is full of encouragement when we need hope and joy. Let this be your reminder that God understands what your heart needs in this moment and nothing can separate you from His love. As you read these five beautiful verses in Psalms, let us trust that the Lord will come up alongside you to spark true joy in your spirit.
Psalms 5:11, “But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.”
Psalms 16:11, “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
Psalms 32:11, “Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.”
Psalms 51:12, “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.”
Psalms 126:5, “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.”
God does not waste anything, even our suffering and grief. He can use all things to reveal His love to us and bring our hearts closer to true peace and joy. You don't have to manufacture a fake smile. The Lord is not asking you to produce your own version of what joy is. He will provide that when we continue to trust Him and hide His Word within our hearts.
As you begin each day this spring, read these verses of joy to yourself. Change the narrative in your mind from defeat to victory. Allow the peace of God to take up space within and be encouraged that His joy isn't reserved for the perfect, unflawed human. It's available to anyone and that includes you, friend.
