A Mother's Day Message

May 06, 2026 · by Charity Walter

Mother’s Day carries a different weight for more women than we often acknowledge. While it’s a day of celebration for many, it can also be a quiet, heavy reminder of loss, longing, or unmet expectations. Today, I want to make space for the women who are hurting.

To the woman who has lost her mother, to the one who longs to be a mother but faces infertility, to the one grieving the loss of a child, and to the one whose life doesn’t look anything like she once imagined—I see you.

Your pain is real, and your story matters.

My own journey to motherhood was not easy. My husband and I spent three years praying, waiting, and hoping for our miracle. There were moments that didn’t make sense—moments that felt deeply unfair. I wrestled with questions, with doubt, with the quiet ache of “why not yet?”

But looking back now, I can say this with confidence: God’s timing is always perfect. Even when I couldn’t see it, even when it felt like nothing was happening, He was working. In the waiting, in the tears, in the heartbreak—He was present.

After loss and longing, after seasons that felt empty and overwhelming, God gave us our miracle baby. And while I hold that blessing with gratitude, I share my story carefully. Not every journey looks the same. Not every prayer is answered in the way we expect.

But this I believe with my whole heart: God is still near in the middle of your story. He has not forgotten you. He is working, even now, in ways you may not yet understand. And if things don’t feel good, if the story feels unfinished—it’s because He’s not done yet.

This Mother’s Day, wherever you find yourself, you are not alone.
