Do you ever think about that day?
The day of the Cross? The day that Jesus, the Savior of the world, was brutally beaten, cursed, and crucified?
Those aren’t pretty thoughts, really. They’re not thoughts of fluffy bunnies or sparkly eggs or new dresses and lacy gloves and wide-brimmed hats.
But that day! That was the day that Jesus paid the price of our sin. That day was when the God of creation and all of the world fulfilled His purpose in coming to earth as a baby being born in a manger. That was the day He had lived His life for. He had truly lived to die.
And when He rose from the grave three days later, our debts had been paid. Our sins washed away. The stone covering the tomb rolled back and the angels of heaven sang glory to God while the followers of Jesus knew without a doubt that their Messiah truly had come — the day of Salvation was at hand!
Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays — and not because of the new Easter dress, the fresh, spring air, or even the singing birds.
But because there’s something that signifies that this day is monumental — this day is special. This is the day that Jesus not only spoke “I love you” but He showed it. He gave all that He had to give in order that we might have life and salvation in Him.
So this weekend is a celebration. This is the day of all days!
