I enjoy crafting and creating things with my own hands and I get this satisfaction when I see my completed piece. However, I know there are some people who shy away from it because it’s not “their thing.” But I like to believe that everyone has some degree of creativity in them, it just takes finding the right element to bring it out and these burlap wrapped mason jars might just be that element!
I made these jars as a gift and I was so happy with how they turned out that I added them to my list of things I want to make for myself sometime. They were simple to make and could be a great accent in any room of a home.
Hobby Lobby is one of my favorite crafting store and I spent way too long mulling over the burlap — there are so many possibilities with this craft that you can customize it to your personal tastes.
Choose burlap to wrap around the jars — there are different widths depending on the size of the jars (the jars can also be found in Hobby Lobby or any craft shops). You can find colored burlap, printed burlap, and textured burlaps. I chose to stick with a neutral palette so I chose cream, brown, and some with lace imprinted on it.
Next, find accents you like — they don’t all have to be burlap. Your accents can be wooden buttons, painted letters or metal flowers. Choosing something that contrasts against the burlap can make your jars stand out and fit in with your personal décor.
After you’ve found all of your pieces, use a hot glue gun to glue on your burlap wrap and then decorate with accents! This simple craft lends to so many varieties and can be filled with flowers, candles, or left to stand alone—the possibilities are endless.
This would be a fun project to do with your friends. Everyone brings some different types of burlap and a few accents and you all can swap pieces and create!
Even if you think you’re not crafty, give this a try, you might just catch the crafting bug!
