October is birthday month for us, and this year we are celebrating 15 years of business! From humble beginnings to being a leading company in the modest movement, Dainty Jewells has come a long way. We have you, dear customers, to thank for supporting Dainty Jewells through the years. For a moment, let's go back to the humble days and reminisce on the growth we've seen in the last 15 years.
What began as a dream...
Our founder, Charity Jewell, began her career at 16 years old by making and selling headbands to earn a little extra money. She began making connections as her headbands became popular. But it wasn't until she created her first up-cycled design (a shorter dress that she added ruffles to the hem and sleeves for modesty) that she realized she was onto something.
After so many people asking if she would sell clothing, she agreed and launched her first clothing collection 2 weeks later from embellished and up-cycled vintage pieces. Modest ladies loved it! Collection after collection would sell out because of limited stock. Charity hired seamstresses but all were sewing around the clock to fulfill the demand for dresses. It seemed modest ladies couldn't get enough of these dresses!
In 2013, Charity married her husband, Jess, and moved across the country from North Carolina to Oregon. Since she had to let her seamstresses go, she began looking for a way to manufacture her pieces. The search for a manufacturer was on! Though tedious and trying and through lots of trial and error, the first manufactured design, the Dainty Jewells ruffle skirt, was created. From there the company grew from an extra bedroom in the Walter house to a storefront to a small warehouse with limited A/C.
...is now a legacy.
Today, Dainty Jewells is housed in a 6,000 square foot custom warehouse with modest clothing orders going all over the world. Dainty Jewells has been featured in USA Today and People Magazine "Style Watch". Charity has been hosted on podcasts such as Unashamedly You, Kingdom Speak, and the Skirted Professional and has spoken at many conferences. The Dainty Jewells Foundation is a charitable organization created by Charity and Jess and has blessed numerous projects, such as home missions churches, orphanages, missionaries, disaster relief efforts, and more. The Dainty Jewells team has grown from just Charity and Jess to a team of ladies committed to bringing modest clothing to the world. This year, we also released our first devotional book, created from blog posts from the Dainty Jewells Blog. She's Intentional: Daily Devotions was created by Christian women for Christian women for day to day life.
Dainty Jewells is growing, and we are thrilled to see what the future holds for this Christian-founded company! Thank you for following along over the past 15 years! The best is yet to come!
