Clean, Fresh Decor for the New Year

January 07, 2016

When my house is decorated for the holidays, it’s pretty extreme.

I fill the mantle, the island, the table, and any other space I have with themed decorations. I love the fall and Christmas season and it’s my favorite time to decorate.  I look forward to adding quite a few touches of orange colors, burlap fabrics, and pumpkins in September. And once mid-November hits I love pulling out my reds, greens, sparkly, nostalgic Christmas decorations.

But I have to be honest: by the end of December my holiday decorations have lost their shine and my house doesn’t look quite as magical. I start looking forward to putting it all away and bringing out my regular house decor.

This year I found myself dreaming of clean rooms, white decor and minimal decorations. There is something about 2016 that makes me long for a new start but also house decoration changes. I want something fresh that feels like a breath of air in each room  of the house and reflects my goals for a fresh new year. But since I don’t have a budget that allows to me to redo every room when the seasons change and I have two young boys that would make an all white home a nightmare, I had to visit Pinterest to build my pretend fresh home. Although I can’t redecorate everything, I have kept my decorating to a minimum right now. Everything feels cleaner and while I may add things in throughout the year to fill the spaces, I am loving my fresh January home.

Don’t these rooms make you swoon?
