Every Single Morning

September 11, 2020 · by Hannah Graley

I want to show you my (undecorated) front entryway.

It’s simple and we haven’t done anything to add a personal touch to it yet.

Nonetheless, I love this entryway because there’s just something about the way the sun shines through the front windows in the morning. The rest of the house may look a little dark, but this entryway always looks so bright and makes me hopeful that each day will be wonderful. It reminds me of the verses in Lamentations:

“It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness” (‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3:22-23‬).

It’s amazing to me that God speaks to us in ways that are specific to us. He doesn’t take a one-size-fits-all approach, but He cares enough to speak to us in ways that are understandable to us individually.

For me, He reminds me by allowing sunshine into my front window, which then reminds me that “His mercies are new every morning.”

That brings me peace.

It gives me hope.

The thought for this article came to me a few times. The day I sat down to begin writing, I checked my Bible app, and the verse of the day was Lamentations 3:22-23. That confirmed it for me.

Maybe this article is for many, and maybe this article is only for me. Whoever it is for, let this remind you that HE LOVES YOU. He is merciful. He is GOOD. He is GOD, and He WANTS to forgive you. There is no mistake that you made yesterday that He is not waiting to forgive you for today.

Oh, this verse is so powerful and speaks to this mama’s sometimes weary heart! He is compassionate toward us. He knows we are going to mess up even though we’re daily striving to be more like Him, and He gives us new mercy every morning.

Every. Single. Morning.

Repeat it.

Let it sink in.

Let it envelop you.

It brings me to tears when I think long and hard about it -- about His love.

When I feel the guilt rush over me for raising my voice at my oldest child because she daily practices disobedience . . . HE is merciful over my mistakes, so I will be merciful over her mistakes. We repent and start over.

New mercy every morning...

The same verses in Lamentations that say His mercies are new every morning also say, “GREAT is thy faithfulness.” One of my favorite older songs sings:

”Great is thy faithfulness, great is thy faithfulness. Morning by morning new mercies I see...”

And oh, how I can testify to His faithfulness! We all have a 100% satisfaction-guarantee that we will have Jesus because He is faithful and true. He never leaves us or forsakes us.

Ladies, gentlemen, whoever may be reading this: Jesus loves you. He didn’t go as far as dying for your sins only to forgive you one time ever. He has new mercy for you every morning. Let His peace overwhelm your heart.

Until next time,

Hugs and blessings

Hannah
