We love a good winter wedding around here! When I spotted Faith's lovely Christmas wedding, I knew we had to feature it. We are so excited to have Faith Rudd with us today to talk about her wedding and share some pictures.
Faith, thanks for joining us! How would you describe your wedding decor theme or vibe?
FR: I would say our theme was “A Classic Christmas Wedding”. I had always dreamed of a winter wedding, and it was nothing short of what I had always dreamed of! I wanted my guests to be engulfed with the feeling of simple elegance along with winter class. Something really neat that we were able to use is a vintage victrola as our guestbook. Guests used a gold marker and signed an old record that was sitting in the victrola. This now sits on display in our living room and is something to remind us of our special day.
Beautiful! What are some of your favorite/special memories of your wedding day?
FR: One of my absolute favorite memories from our wedding day would be before the ceremony Cody and I exchanged hand written letters that we had written each other. We did this without seeing one another, so we both stood on either side of a door in the sanctuary and prayed for God to ordain our steps and guide us through life with His perfect will. That was a very special moment for just us to be together before the ceremony had even begun. Another thing was the music in our wedding; during our songs both of us became super emotional because the songs were truly a sentiment of what we had always prayed for and now those prayers were coming to fruition. Cody and I felt they were truly testaments of our love for God and for each other; that God had chosen us for such a time as this.
Were there any funny moments or things that didn't go according to plan?
FR: The funniest thing that happened was during the reception when we realized we hadn’t discussed how to cut the cake or how we were to go about linking arms and drinking from our fancy glasses. We decided we would just laugh and wing it! Of course, to us, it was perfect!
How did you find the perfect wedding dress?
FR: As most girls do, I had searched through Pinterest and gathered some ideas and done some window shopping to pick out what styles I may have liked. One Saturday all my bridesmaids, both of my grandmothers, and, of course, my mother went to David's Bridal. It only took three dresses to determine I had found “the one”! After MANY alterations, you now see the dress that I wore that day!
Do you have any advice for future brides?
FR: My best advice to any young lady pursuing the dream of marriage is to keep God first. During my time of being single (even now) I constantly referred back to the scripture: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.” There were a lot of times when I could question, “When will it be my turn to get married?”, but I continued to trust in God and His timing. By doing that, in His perfect timing, the Lord gave me the desires of my heart: a godly husband who loves the Lord most of all and his wife. For that, I am forever thankful!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful wedding with us today, Faith!
