Geometrics. Geometrics is a word derived from Geometry, the branch of mathematics concerned with the properties and relations of points, lines, surfaces, solids, and higher dimensional analogs has recently become one of the hottest terms in the fashion industry. Geometric patterns are everywhere, and I must admit, despite Geometry being the bane of my existence in high school, I’m a huge fan of isosceles triangles and acute angles on my clothing.
Yet, just as Geometry challenged my patience in the classroom, geometric patterns can be a challenge to style in a cohesive manner. And thus, pastels. A pastel is a soft and delicate shade of color that, in my opinion, offsets the harshness of a bold geometric pattern.
A soft shade of blue was the pastel of the day for me with my vest from XXI coupled with my black-and-white (of course) geometric skirt from the Loft. Paired with my magenta Michael Kors purse because I was feeling a bit in need of a contrast and my standard Vince Camuto heeled sandal, my outfit was complete.
Now, I would never venture to tell you that a geometric must only EVER be worn with pastels, for I have seen geometrics paired with neons, more geometrics, stripes, or bold colors, and quite successfully, I might add. And so, be imaginative and wear geometrics or pastels or both in a way that reflects you, and always, always, always stay fabulous, Ladies.
