He Makes All Things New

May 23, 2016

Spring in Seattle is absolutely amazing: the flowers at Pike Place Market are beautiful, the weather is perfect, and everyone is out and about.

It’s amazing what spring can do for your spirit!

Don’t get me wrong; I love winter and the holiday season, but I definitely felt a shift in my spirit when spring finally hit. Those blue skies, the sunshine, ah! I love it!

The full bloom of spring is such a great reminder that God really does make all things new. After the dark of winter and the lack of color, spring breathes fresh, new life all around us.

The Bible says in Romans 6:4, that “we also should walk in newness of life.

We don’t have to live in the shadow of sin, our past, or the difficult trials we’ve walked through.

We’ve all made mistakes and we’ve all walked some dark roads, but we don’t have to let our lives, joy, peace, and more be buried by those experiences.

God is in the business of making things new, and he wants to make you new, too!

2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Whether you’re making the decision to live for God for the first time, you’re recommitting your life to God and laying aside some things, or you’re leaving behind a cold, dark winter season that has tested and tried your faith, God wants to make you new.

As you step out into the sunshine and witness the beauty of spring all around you, I hope it will remind you to leave the old things behind and embrace the newness of life that’s found in living everyday for Jesus.
