His Voice, Our Choice

December 27, 2014

What makes a poem, or any written word, extraordinary?  When life gets the best of us with our hectic schedules, the written word is a powerful reminder of what is truly important: our relationship with Christ. When the Spirit of God infiltrates to the depths of our hearts, it stirs the soul to its innermost core.

The timeless words of an unforgettable poem still echo explicitly in my mind. Tears flow from my eyes when I recall this poem, so I would like to share it for it has spoken to my heart many times.

I knelt to pray, but not for long. I had too much to do.
Must hurry off and get to work, for bills would soon be due.
And so I said a hurried prayer, jumped up from off my knees,
My Christian duties now were done, My soul could be at ease.
All through the day I had no time to speak a word of cheer;
No time to speak of Christ to friends, they’d laugh at me I feared.
No time, no time, too much to do. That was my constant cry;
No time to give to those in need — At last was time to die.
And when before the Lord I came, I stood with downcast eyes;
Within His hands He held a book–
It was the “Book of Life.”
God looked into His book and said
“Your name I cannot find,I once was going to write it down,
but never found the time.”

Never Found Time — Unknown

Despite the chaotic life that demands tireless endeavors from us, it is imperative that we find time for the One who brought us into this world. Our heart’s prayer should be that we allow Jesus to earnestly guide us through the journey of life. Whether the mountains high, the valleys low, in the treacherous storms of life — run to Him. He will be the strong tower of peace that surpasses all understanding, for He is the Prince of Peace!

A relationship with Jesus Christ is incomparable when it comes to our ordinary, earthly schedules. When you develop a fervent relationship with Jesus Christ, it is like walking in a glorious avenue of endless love; because He is love. If you make time to have a relationship with Him, you will be investing in a priceless treasure that is an eternal gift.

In spite of my countless shortcomings, not one time has Jesus abandoned or forsaken me in my time of need. For that, I am forever grateful, and have no reason but to live my life entirely devoted to Him. In your deepest, darkest, most shameful stage of life, never feel like it is too late to begin a true relationship with Him or that you have made one too many mistakes.  He desires to mend our shattered hearts, carry our burdens, and become the center of our lives.

Make a choice to not let the noise of this present world prevent you from hearing the voice of God. A life with Jesus Christ is never wasted: thus, schedule time wisely to where he is the center of your life. Let the beginning of a new year next week be the start of a fresh outlook on your relationship with Christ, but don’t wait until next Thursday: start now. Do not hesitate! He holds the entire world in His hands and has a plan so magnificent for each and every one of us that is truly unfathomable.
