It’s All In the Details

Happy day-after-Christmas!

Perhaps some of you got engaged over the holidays? If so, this post is just for you!

Little things can make a big difference, even in grand-scale wedding celebrations. Some of the most beautiful weddings I have attended are the ones that place emphasis even on the smallest elements. Attention to the simplest of details can add lovely touches to your special day! Here are a few of my favorite creative ideas:

Loved ones can get a bit emotional at weddings, and pretty handkerchiefs are lovely favor for them to use during the ceremony. You can find nice vintage ones at antique stores or thrift shops.

Try using a creative and unexpected guest book. I love this idea of using a globe. I’ve seen everything from instruments to index cards used!

Having an outdoor wedding? If it’s in fall, winter, or early spring, consider offering small blankets for your guests to ward off the chill. They will appreciate the considerate gesture.

Designate a social media hashtag for your ceremony and display a sign encouraging guests to post with it. Later, you will easily be able to access pictures from your wedding at the click of a button — which is especially nice if you have to wait a while for your professional photos!

At the end of the reception is the time for the happy couple to be sent off, which usually entails some kind bird-seed or bubbles. I am personally not a big fan of either, but I do like the idea of using something different, like dried flower petals, confetti, or sparklers. Sheet music or book pages make for a pretty container!

If you did, in fact, get engaged over the holidays, we would love to hear about your exciting news in the comments below! And while you’re planning your wedding, what would you like to see from us that would help you plan your special day?
