Today we’re excited to share the wedding details of Kimberly Pearson, one of our own She’s Intentional writers.

How would you describe your wedding theme?
I have always been the kind of girl to have a Pinterest board full and ready of wedding ideas. After Preston and I became engaged, I realized I could NOT narrow the theme I wanted down to two words. I was envisioning our wedding to be full of earthy and romantic details. My sister simplified the theme for me when she called it “botanical elegance.” She hit it right on the spot! I wanted long velvet dresses for the bridesmaids in various shades of greens, eucalyptus greenery everywhere, fragrant roses, classic decor that would be unique, and soft lighting throughout the entire event. My friend and wedding decorator was able to make my dreams come true by creating a magnificent wreath that was eight feet tall! It was the perfect backdrop.
What are some of your favorite memories of your wedding day?
One of my favorite memories of our wedding day was definitely the moment we were driving to meet Preston for our first look. I was SO over-the-moon excited to see him! Every worry and concern about the weather, cold, and last-minute details flew out of my head at that moment, and I just wanted to see him. We had some pretty cold weather on the week of our wedding day (and it had snowed a few days before!), but I must have been undergoing some sort of adrenaline rush, because after a while of taking pictures outside and noticing everyone around me shivering in the freezing wind, I realized I was so excited I hadn’t even noticed the cold!
Were there any funny moments or things that didn’t go according to plan?
We had a fun last minute panic moment when the flower girl baskets went missing! Someone quickly created makeshift baskets that would get the job done, but I was disappointed we couldn’t find the real ones for the girls. I had found some moss-covered baskets that had a more organic feel to them. Right as the girls were lining up to walk down the aisle, they found the baskets!! They quickly exchanged the makeshift baskets for the real ones, and the girls were so good about just rolling with whatever they were given. They were such sweet helpers, and it all turned out perfect!
How did you find the perfect wedding dress?
Oh the joys of finding the perfect modest wedding dress! My mom is one of my favorite humans in the world, and ever since I can remember, I have wanted her to make my wedding dress. She is such a talented seamstress; I had no doubts she could make my dreams come true. My mom has worked with countless brides helping them alter their dresses to be modest. She made her own wedding dress. She sews countless of her own designs. But she had never completely made a wedding dress for someone else–until now. Needless to say, she was apprehensive about it, but the results were perfect! I had some ideas in mind of what I wanted in my gown: long sleeves, a timeless style, a high neckline, floral organic embellishments, a long train, and countless yards and yards of endless tulle. She was able to build upon my initial ideas and create something that was so much more than I’d expected. The gown my mom created was so special, and all of her thoughtful little details only made it all the more beautiful to me.
What advice do you have for future brides?
One piece of advice I have for future brides is to remain flexible! I know that can be very difficult because this is only your WEDDING! One thing that I did and would recommend is to settle on one or two things that you simply feel you must have on your wedding day, and try to be flexible with the rest. It is important to realize that there will be some ideas that are simply out of the budget, but most can have a budget-friendly alternative. That being said, I strongly encourage DIY projects and making the little details of your wedding as personalized as you want it. Your wedding day is a very special day, so have fun and make it as memorable as possible.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your wedding or your love story?
Our wedding day was so special as we were surrounded by those near and dear to our hearts celebrating our love with us. The time leading up to the wedding was at times overwhelming, with so many decisions needing to be made soon, DIY projects needing to be completed, and upcoming showers to be held! However, knowing all along that God was the One drawing us together was such a beautiful thing. It gave me so much peace to be so certain that this was the person I wanted to marry and share my forever with. Dating Preston had been so natural and unpretentious; I had no doubts I wanted to marry him. I knew from the start how Preston felt, and that was an amazing thing. I want to encourage any single girl reading this today to stay absolutely true to yourself and to God. He is a faithful God, and He knows the desires of our hearts!
