Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become your character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.
If I had a dollar for every time someone told me, “You’re just so happy all the time,” or, “Nothing ever upsets you!”
…. is anyone else with me?!
Now, of course, we all know that is not true, for we are all but humans. However, I do think that there is a need to put aside those petty feelings that sometimes get in the way, and stay true to your joy and peace within. No matter how bad of a day I am having, I know that simply having another day is a HUMONGOUS blessing! A lot of people did not get that chance today.
Sometimes we need to take a step back and look at things from a different perspective. Our thoughts are a powerful thing, and what we think, we become. If you hear someone putting themselves down or doubting their abilities, be the encourager and try to shift their mindset. Everything that has ever been done and accomplished was a thought before it was reality. The highest skyscrapers, the most impressive monuments, and even the speedy internet that we rely on, were simply a thought in somebody’s mind. A thought that took hold, developed roots, and was cultivated and nourished to grow into what it is today.
A simple thought can boost you to the sky or sink you down low. How many times have we heard that we must guard our minds and our hearts? The Bible also says that what you say is what is dwelling in your heart. We must watch our words and use them to soothe and uplift those around us rather than to ridicule or put them down. Whenever I find myself in situations that are difficult to manage, I think of my mentors and examples and ask myself, “What would this person do in this situation? How would they react? What would they say?”
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Choose to think positively, choose to be the ray of sunshine, choose to have the happy disposition others lack. Love and enjoy every second of your life and living for Jesus. Live intentionally with a purpose to love and encourage those around you. We have so much to be thankful and grateful for. Try making a list and you will find you are far beyond blessed! Jesus takes care of his children and wants us to make a difference in this world.
How could we ever make a difference in a dreary, unhappy world, if we too are dreary and unhappy? Count your blessings and share some good news with the world today. In a world that is so unhappy, live a happy life on purpose.
