On Feeling Beautiful

May 01, 2015

You know that dress that makes you feel beautiful? The one that you put on and you suddenly feel more confident and ready to face your day? Do you have that dress that takes an ordinary moment into the extraordinary?

That sensation of beauty is the way you should always feel. It’s easy to search Pinterest for the newest trend and outfit inspiration. But when it comes time for you to walk out of the door you should be in the clothes that honor God, make you hold your head a little higher, and make you feel like a beautiful lady — regardless if it’s the most popular style or not.

Don’t mistake or substitute the feeling of beauty for feeling prideful about your clothes — beauty is not about the garment you are wearing. But you should choose clothing that makes you feel beautiful: choose styles that flatter your body type and colors that bring out the best you. This will help you to feel confident about the woman God made you to be.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;your works are wonderful, I know that full well. {Psalm 139:14}

Not every trend that appears on fashion’s radar will be for every female every time. Evaluate your body type and find out what flatters you (you can find tips and guides for this on Pinterest). For example, I know that high-waisted, fitted pencil skirts will not flatter my hips so I try to buy fuller cut skirts because they tend to balance my shape. Knowing how to dress for your figure helps you feel confident and pretty in the clothing you choose.

Search for outfits that give you confidence during the day and not clothes that make you want to hide. Find clothing that puts a smile on your face. Find clothing that makes you feel beautiful. After all, you are fearfully and wonderfully made {Psalm 139:14} so we should feel that way every single day.
