Real Wedding: Josh + Christian

November 25, 2020 · by Jennifer Smith

Christian, thank you for sharing your wedding with us today! How would you describe the wedding theme/vibe you were going for?

Our theme was more feminine chic with a little bit of a rustic feeling.

What are some of your favorite or most special memories of your wedding day?

One of my favorite memories from my wedding day is when I got to read the letter my (now) husband wrote to me before I walked down the aisle. It was probably the most emotional, but his words reminded me of just how much I love him and how excited I was to spend our lives together. On another note, he also surprised me by singing a song during the ceremony! Totally unexpected, but what a tear-jerker! That was so special.

Were there any funny moments or things that didn't go according to plan?

Honestly, not much went wrong on our big day, hallelujah! That’s every bride’s dream. But, we did find out that we didn’t make enough boutonnieres for our ushers and even the men on the platform. Thankfully we had an amazing decorator and coordinator to help fix that issue with our extra flowers from the reception venue! Going along with the unexpected song from the last question, the microphone was muted when he started! Thankfully, I could hear him great.

How did you find the perfect wedding dress?

It’s so funny you ask that, because my wedding dress was literally a God thing! Every time someone asked me where I got it, I couldn’t resist telling them the whole story.

I had gone to several bridal shops around our area and I actually found my dream dress at the first place! But the price tag really didn’t fit our budget, so I was determined to keep searching. After trying on dresses at three boutiques, I decided to go to the web.

Let me tell you, there are so many wedding dress sites, so it’s hard to really tell which one would be best for me and not scam me. I came across a website called “The Last Minute Bride” (it really wasn’t last minute!) and on the last page I looked, there was a dress that had every quality I was looking for...with only one in MY size! I always give God the glory for that amazing find!

Any advice you have for future brides?

My biggest piece of advice is to slow down and take it all in. This is your wedding and no one else’s. Don’t let anyone try to take your shine. This is your day! Plan it to be exactly as you dreamed it to be! You will not regret it in the end.

Anything else in particular that you'd like to share about your wedding or your love story?

One more thing -- splurge on your photographer! You will keep those photos and cherish them for a lifetime!

Your photography was beautiful! Who was your photographer?

Allison Tucker at allisontuckerphotography.com. (She actually moved to Hawaii recently, but she was wonderful to work with!)

Thank you so much for your time, Christian! We appreciate you sharing your big day with us, and we hope our readers enjoy your gallery of beautiful wedding photos below!
