I’ve always been touched by the song that says, “I go to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses….He walks with me and He talks with me, and He tells me I am His own”. There’s just something about the morning and the stillness of all things that brings a calm to my soul. I wasn’t always a morning person, but as adulthood has brought a little more chaos and responsibilities into my days, I see why scripture highlights the morning time as a special time to be present with God before I face whatever the day may bring. He fills my cup, He calms my mind so that I can hear Him more clearly, and like the birds that sing in the morning in joyful anticipation of a new day, the Lord gives me a new song in my soul to sing that fills me with His joy. Just as with spring time comes new life, with each new day are new mercies to glean from in moments with the One who calls us to walk with Him. He desires for us to know His heart in a way that transforms us more and more into His likeness. What a joy and privilege it is to serve the true God who desires to walk and talk with His creation.
"Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life." ~ Psalm 143:8
"In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly." ~ Psalm 5:3
