Scarlet, thanks for joining us today. How would you describe your wedding decor and theme?

I’ve always loved the beauty of elegance, simplicity and nature. For our decor I felt like we didn’t need to do a whole lot because the venue kind of spoke for itself. We wanted an outdoor wedding without the August heat, so this venue was actually perfect! We loved the tall glass windows that gave us a perfect view of all the greenery outside.
I remember being so overwhelmed because it had rained a few days prior to our wedding, but thankfully the Ashton gardens staff took the time to have someone come in early the day of the wedding to clean all the glass windows.
The photos turned out stunning.

What are some of your favorite or most special memories of that day?

Honestly, I loved every second of our wedding, from getting ready with my girls to flying away with the love of my life! I think that was an epic experience for us; neither of us had flown before, so it was definitely a mutual experience. As we flew away, we had a view of all our families and friends and then transitioned to a view of the sunset over the big Lewisville lake. It was a very special moment for me as I looked out at the gorgeous scenery just thanking God for His wonderful blessings in our life.

Were there any funny moments or things that didn't go according to plan?

You know, no matter how many hours you spend planning every detail, there will always be things that happen not according to plan. So, one funny scene was when the wedding party was making their way into the ceremony chapel. My mother and I were in the bridal room just next door. But I was so nervous I wasn’t really aware of our turn . Well, one of the sisters coordinating came rushing in saying, “hey, what are you doing here! It's the bride's turn to walk in!". So we rushed out, and we stood at the big doors the split second it opened! It was so funny to me; I had a big smile on my face from that moment until I walked up the altar. Honestly, it was a great way for my nerves to go away and a funny moment I’ll never forget.

How did you find the perfect wedding dress?

So, all my life I’ve loved clothing, from drawing it to making it. So I love to see a garment with potential. Keeping in mind my love for simplicity and nature, I came upon an Instagram page called the Wilderly Bride. They showed a lot of bohemian style dresses that I absolutely loved. So we went to two stores; one was David’s Bridal, where I actually had found and said yes to the dress. Unfortunately though, the timing for the arrival of the dress, followed with alterations, would be way after the wedding. So, a little overwhelmed, my friend Allysa actually called and mentioned a wedding dress boutique called Bailey’s Bridal where I actually found a dress I had seen on the Instagram page!
It was like 2 sizes too big, so it was a little concerning, but, like I said, I had an eye for potential. [After] talking with the alterations lady and giving her my vision on the dress, it was actually miraculously finished on time for my bridal photo shoot and my wedding.

Do you have any advice for future brides?

Some advice that a lot of people gave me, and I feel really strongly about this....it’s YOUR wedding. You do your thing and what you love (whether it's color, decor etc.). Some people don’t know all that goes into a wedding; sometimes your vision is solid, sometimes it changes, but at the end of the day, all that matters is that you did what you loved, and you will not regret it. I loved every little thing of mine. And I hope you do, too.

And don’t stress too much. The day goes by so fast! At the end of the day you only have eyes for the handsome man by your side.

Is there anything else in particular that you would like to share about your wedding or love story?

Sitting here as I type while chatting with my husband, it’s definitely a scene I never imagined in my life. Which brings me to this thought that our life is not our own, and, no matter how much we try to go the other direction, God will always come to us and guide us to the path He has written for us. As I start this path with the love of my life, I realize that every step I take is new; I don’t know what’s going to happen next. I’m simply stepping into each footstep made by my Creator, and I can’t wait for what He has for our future. And marriage is so fun! Some people will portray marriage as the end of your life or not as good as you think, but when you marry the one God has for you, and you follow His will, this thing called "married life" can be such an amazing experience. I will definitely soak in every bit of it!
