Spring Vibes in Winter: Valerie and Brody's Wedding

April 02, 2024 · by Andrea Long

There's just something about a spring wedding. The fresh flowers, bright atmosphere, and the feeling of new beginnings in the air all lend a sweet feel to an already special day. Valerie created this spring vibe wedding, complete with bright colors, in the middle of November! We are so excited to interview Valerie today and see her beautiful wedding photos. Valerie, thank you for joining us on the blog!

SI: How would you describe your wedding decor/theme/vibe?

VH: I would describe my wedding decor/theme/vibe as Spring in November! It was bright, colorful, fun, and felt like a big party, just like I wanted!

SI: What are some of your favorite or special memories of your wedding day?

VH: Some of my favorite memories from the wedding day is our first look, getting to wear my wedding dress all day, being with the people we love most allll day long, ALL the music (we also had planned singing at the reception), and then the best part was never having to say goodbye to my husband again!

For our reception I made these massive piñata letters that said “BEST DAY EVER”, and we set them up behind our sweetheart table, so every time we took a picture, it was in the background.

I also designed and created all our stationary, and it was one of my favorite parts of the day! We also had newspaper programs - so fun!

SI: Were there any funny moments or things that didn't go according to plan?

VH: My miniature bride would not walk down the aisle so my miniature groom just strutted down the aisle by himself! We also got stuck in the streamers on our send-off!

SI: How did you find the perfect wedding dress?

VH: When I went wedding dress shopping I had never tried any dresses on or even looked really to know what I wanted! I went in with a completely open mind and tried on almost every style of dress! While I was trying on dresses, there was a dress I could see in the mirror, and my consultant finally said, “You’ve been eyeing that dress every time you’ve come out here.. do you want to try it on!?”. At that moment I thought the dress was out of budget and I refused to try it on. She went and checked the price; to my surprise it was in budget!!!! Tried it on immediately and, of course, it had to be the one!

SI: Do you have any advice for future brides?

VH: Enjoy the process!! By the time your wedding day gets there, you have already done everything you can, so quit stressing, relax, and enjoy your day because you’ll never get it back!!

SI: Is there anything else in particular that you'd like to share about your wedding or your love story?

VH: When I met Brody, I had no intentions of ever liking him, but he says from the moment he heard my voice (it was on a phone call - we had never met) he knew he was going to marry me!
