The winter climate is officially upon us!

If your state is anything like Michigan, you are probably experiencing frigid temperatures and massive amounts of snow and ice. Naturally, our initial reaction is to curl up by the fireplaces with a cup of hot coffee or chocolate. However, there are those rare occasions when leaving the home is absolutely necessary (ie. work and school). In order to endure the bitter cold and brutal wind chill, we often end up piling on scarfs and multiple pairs of socks, leaving us looking a bit frumpy. But, don’t worry, I have some fabulous tips on how to look chic despite the below zero temperatures!

Rock the Turtleneck!

Who says turtlenecks aren’t “in”? A turtleneck is a staple in your winter wardrobe, especially if you live somewhere cold. They are the perfect way to provide warmth and sophistication without piling on a scarf. So rock that turtleneck, girl.

Find the Perfect Coat

Finding a coat that is both warm and fashionable is really quite the challenge. I have a few different go-to winter coats, but this one takes the cake. I have had it for several years, but honestly I never get tired of wearing it. Fur coats are so fun and have the tendency to spice up whatever you are wearing. It is also extremely warm, which is an absolute must.

Keep Your Fingers Warm

Gloves are indeed essentials. Ladies, I know we think we’re superheros and that we can survive without gloves, because it is annoying to constantly take them off, but they are simply a must if you’re trying to avoid frostbite. This is why it is essential to have a pair of texting gloves that have the touch screen technology, that way you never have to take them off and you don’t get frostbite. Win-Win!

Pile on those Layers

Layering is something that you will never regret in this weather. As you can see in the pictures, I layered my tights with some cream sweater socks. Layering definitely provided some extra warmth. I then added a pair of heel booties to finish off the look.

It is important to stay warm in this frozen wonderland for obvious reasons, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t be stylish doing it. Try to add some of these tips to your winter morning routine, and I promise you’ll stay toasty warm even if you’re not cuddled up in a blanket by the fireplace!
