The Beauty of Remaining

April 21, 2025 · by Jacy Lee Pulford

The week after Easter is interesting. After all the food preparations, church rehearsals, choir practices, clothes shopping, and house cleaning…we are back to the grind of everyday life. Almost like a switch. Back to our job, our classes, our daily schedules. I often wonder if we bring the beauty of the celebration with us as the dishes pile up again and the emails chime.

I enjoy the traditions of Easter weekend no matter how chaotic they may be because the reason is remembering the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Yet, what happens after the celebration? What should we do after He’s done everything?

“The believers continued to devote themselves to what the apostles were teaching, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to times of prayer.” Acts 2:42, ISV

In the book of Acts, we’re given a glimpse into the beauty of remaining. Followers of Jesus witnessed His gruesome death, burial, resurrection and then became participants in the outpouring of His Spirit. They had received the full revelation of God and the new birth experience. Reading the Word, we see what they did afterwards; they remained.

Being still in the promise of God as we wait for future promises is such a gift. As I navigate the week after our Easter celebrations, I want to make sure I’m in community with like-minded believers as we remain in Christ together. Having an open heart to continue learning in the Word and spending time in prayer with His church so I know how to live this new life.

I want to encourage you this week to be still and remain in Christ. There is beauty in it.

It’s holy to slow down with the right people, surrounded by truth and love. Let us be reminded that it is in the remaining that we will truly see more of who Christ is and who we must be in Him.
