Travel Essentials :: NYC Edition

July 16, 2015

In just three short days I will be boarding an airplane to New York City! Excited for this trip is an understatement. I will be in New York for a week on vacation with my best friend’s family. Obviously I have been saving and preparing for this trip for the past month, and although packing well is an obvious must, the travel essentials are just as important! So without further ado, here are some of my travel essentials that will be making their appearance on my NYC trip.

This outfit is ideal for traveling — especially if you are traveling in the summer. I always get cold on planes so I like to bring either a leather jacket or a sweater for those chilly moments. A big, versatile tote is always a must to carry all of those aiport/flight must haves. Not to mention, each of these items could be paired later on in the trip with something else for that re-usability factor!

Maxi dresses are another flight-favorite of mine. They are super comfortable and easy to throw on when you’re rushing to the airport at 5am. While the heels are not very practical, you could swap them out for some cool New Balance tennis shoes, loafers, gladiator sandals or heeled booties. I love the leather jacket in this outfit. If you get hot throughout the day you could easily tie the jacket around your waist! (Pack the heels for later for a super chic look to wear while in the city!)

Y’all. I am obsessed with weekender bags. If you don’t have one, you desperately need to invest in one. Instead of carrying your massive purse all around the airport use a weekender bag, (a small duffel) which is a much cooler option.

Last but not least, those in-bag essentials are super important. If you’re anything like me, you are hungry all the time. I always pack snacks (within the airport regulations), just in case I get the munchies. I also love to read on flights. I will be re-reading Wuthering Heights on my flight to New York. I also love to pack face lotion and face toning spray because my skin tends to get dry during the flight.

I hope this gives you a few ideas for your next big trip — what kind of tips do you have to share on packing, sight-seeing, or essential elements necessary for your own successful vacation? We’d love to hear all about it in the comments below!

xoxo
