Up, Up, and Away: First Birthday Party Inspiration

June 10, 2020 · by Anyssa Hessler

My firstborn turned one year old in April!

I can hardly believe it. If you’re a momma, you know how bittersweet this milestone is. You’re excited to see your little one grow, but at the same time, your baby looks and acts less like a baby every day. Nevertheless, what a joyous time this past year with my girl has been! I am so blessed to call her mine.

We celebrated our sweet Reyna with balloons, sweets, and close family. I love hosting and party planning, and this event was without a doubt my favorite so far. Even though my girl won’t remember a second of it, when she gets older, I want to have pictures to look back on for her to see just how special she was to us.

I went for an “Up, Up, and Away” hot-air-balloon theme I came across on Pinterest. Pinterest is always my go-to place for party inspiration! We decorated with clouds, hot-air balloons, and a touch of sparkle. It was perfect grilling weather, so we opted for burgers, brats, fruit, side salads, and bottled drinks.

I found these adorable themed cookies on Etsy. Etsy is such a fun site for unique items like this hot-air-balloon confetti, balloon garland, and even an over-sized balloon to create a mini hot-air balloon for Reyna.

I found these fun sequin runners on Amazon for just $7, the tablecloths and tableware and cake topper at Target, Reyna’s sequin dress from Bailey’s Blossoms, and we repurposed these adorable paper hot-air balloons from my sister-in-law’s graduation party.

This party was so fun and special. It was a perfect time to look back and celebrate the past year with our girl. I didn’t get pictures of every little décor detail, but I hope our party gave you some fun inspiration for your own little one!
