Hello, Fall-ish season, I’m going to use your gray skies as an excuse to start doing my favorite thing: layering.
(I know, I know, layering is the most cliche of the cliche topics in existence, but hear me out.)
The cold weather isn’t with us, yet. *cue the tears* However, this is the perfect time to start incorporating lightweight layering pieces, like — I don’t know — maybe a fabulous and trendy long vest.
Vests have not always been my go-to, I assure you. The introduction of the long vest, however, revolutionized my world. The long vest concept removes all worry of awkward lengths and cut-off waist lines, and adds a level of “epic-ness” without a heat-stroke factor.
This outfit, in particular, was chosen as a transition outfit. The dress in itself, by WhoWhatWear , is all business, a classic shirt-dress with a little pizzazz in the polka-dots.

Then the vest is added, and the outfit is transformed from business to street-ready, from simple to trendy. This olive green vest, also by WhoWhatWear , has salvaged many an outfit of mine, I kid you not.
After
Paired with a pair of Vince Camuto gladiators and a standard, black Kate Spade, my outfit is complete and my obsession with vests is reinforced.
