When You Need Inspiration

August 27, 2015

  1. The process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative; a sudden brilliant, creative, or timely idea

We all have them. Those days when it seems like inspiration simply won’t come. Those times when we feel like we are staring at a brick wall, so to speak. An ironic confession? I’ve stared at my computer screen for ten minutes, trying to think of a great subject for this week’s article. And each time I began to type a few words, it resulted in the backspace button being pressed multiple times. Yes, it’s one of those days. So, what can you do on those days when you need to be inspired? I want to tell you about a few of my biggest sources.

First and foremost, God. He is the ultimate source of inspiration, the creator of everyone and everything. When I am feeling un-inspired, I love to turn to His word. Sometimes, when I feel as though I am at my wit’s end, I will read a passage of scripture that directly applies to my situation, and through the Bread of Life, direction that I need will come. One-on-one time with Jesus Christ in prayer also makes a world of difference. It is during those times of communion with him that he speaks to the heart.

Secondly, other people inspire me immensely. So many different individuals, and in so many different ways. However, I would like to talk about one source in particular: I love to see young women, such as the ones that read this blog, intentionally living a consecrated, holy life unto the Lord. That is a rare and beautiful thing, especially in the world we live in today. So, kudos to you, dear reader! You inspire me.

Lastly, music. I know that might sound like a cliché, but I think many of you would agree. Music can touch our emotions in a way that other thing’s cannot. Of course, for it to be inspirational, it needs to be uplifting and clean. I personally enjoy a plethora of genres. I even love instrumental music, such as classical and jazz, that help to clear my mind and relax stress. But most of all, I love to listen to praise and worship songs that cause me to focus on the Glory of God–songs that remind me that he has everything under control.

What are some of the things that most inspire each of you? Please do leave a comment and share your ideas with us! Happiest of Thursdays to all of you lovely ladies.
