A moment of honesty for you lovelies on this early Monday morning:
I am not a morning person.
Actually, not true. If I could stay in my jammies while sipping a warm latté and be wrapped in the coziest blanket the world has ever known, then I could be a morning person.
Secondly, dressing in the morning provides an additional challenge for me, especially during the fall here in the Midwest. Mornings are terribly frigid and require gloves, coats, tights, and scarves, yet by the time noon hits, the sun is high in the sky and it’s almost like summer again!
However, last week I received a lovely Dainty Jewells package in the mail with the most perfect dress ever that is making me change my mind about dressing for autumn days: The Whimsical Sweater Dress! No, really: putting this dress on makes me so happy that I’m planning on purchasing three more of the sweater dresses.
I have been living in this dress since it arrived; I could not be more impressed with the super soft fabric (it’s better than my favorite pajamas!) and the quality of the garment. Also, one of my favorites about the dress is its amazing versatility. There are so many ways to wear this dress – I really wish I could just wear it every day! The fact that it is completely modest and requires no layering makes getting dressed in the morning a cinch. Wearing this dress made me realize how often Apostolic women have to really work at making garments suitable for a modest lifestyle. This sweater dress does not require a skirt underneath for added length, it doesn’t need a layering cami to make the neckline modest. Mornings have just gotten so much easier for this girl!
I have worn this dress three times in one week – don’t judge, it really is that wonderful. I initially wore it to a church fellowship meeting with my fur vest (pictured in a post here) with black tights and black suede, square toed Poetic License wedges and a yellow and gold clutch. I got so many compliments on the ensemble and was very happy with how it turned out (but forgot to take an outfit picture)!
A few days later, I wore the dress for work (without the vest) and added a skinny belt to accent the empire waistline, along with with cream lace tights and taupe high-heeled oxfords. I got compliments again on the dress from my high school students, little girl piano students and their moms!
Then, this weekend, I wore it as pictured to a pumpkin patch and corn maze. SO MUCH FUN! Saturday was considerably warmer than it had been the rest of the week, so I ditched the tights in favor of no-show, lace socks with the brown booties and was comfortable all day long. I highly recommend the dress for this season and the coming winter. I can’t wait to wear it again with boots and a scarf in the next few weeks!
