Winter Classic: Gingham Dress

February 14, 2018

I don’t know what it is about black and white – but I can’t get enough of this color combination. It’s a classic pair that simply can’t be matched! My closet is filled with it in plaid, stripes, polka dots, checkers, and more. These pieces can be paired with just about any other color under the sun, but they can also hold their own. I often find myself wearing nothing but black and white, and I don’t feel that my outfit is lacking anything at all. This color combination is simple and subtle on its own, but the right pattern can really make it bold. That is precisely what I believe to be true for this beautiful Gingham Dress from Dainty’s Jewell’s boutique collection.

I am infatuated with checkered prints this season – it just complements the winter weather so nicely! I came across this dress early in the season and just had to have it. It’s fairly lightweight, so it can extend into the warmer seasons, but paired with the right cardigan, scarf, or blouse, it’s perfect for a winter’s day. I wanted a more tailored, preppy look and so I paired this dress with a classic white bow blouse. This particular blouse is currently out of stock, but I’ve linked options that can achieve a similar look here and here. I think the bow adds such a classic feminine touch – the two pieces really work well together!

The snow never seems to stop here in northern Indiana and so my black riding boots were a must. I truly believe every girl needs a classic pair of riding boots in her wardrobe. I wear mine quite often! This is my second season with these boots, but I’ve linked similar ones here and here.

When I do add color to break up my black and white outfits, a rusty brown is my go-to choice. To me, this color is almost as timeless as black and white and can be paired with just about anything! I recently bought this simple watch from Target.

This dress has quickly become one of my favorite pieces this season. It’s cozy but classy, so I’m always thinking of ways to style it so that I can wear it again and again! How would you style this lovely dress? Let us know in the comments!
