Carry-On Essentials

January 08, 2016

These past couple of years, I have done quite a bit of traveling. Therefore, I have basically mastered my carry-on essentials.

Some of these items may seem unnecessary, but I promise you each one has a purpose. I always say it is far better to pack too much than too little!

The bag that I have been using for a while is this Madewell Leather Tote. I like to use a tote because it carries a lot and still looks stylish. Everything that I take with me fits into the bag perfectly.

1. Beauty

I’ll start with beauty prodcuts. For me, the products that I use are such an important part of my flight. I am sure you have seen blog posts and YouTube vides about people’s in-flight beauty routines, and I must say, most of those are even crazy for me. I don’t go that far with my beauty products on my flight, but I do use a few things that make it much more enjoyable.

At the end of flights, it’s essential to have something to refresh your breath. The Orbit White Gum has been a favorite of mine for a while now. If you haven’t tried this gum, do it. It honestly whitens your teeth! The Nuxe Reve De Miel Lip Balm is definitely the best lip balm I have ever used. The consistency is very thick, and I love the smell. Basically, everything about it is perfection in my book! It is kind of pricey, but it has great ingredients and will last you forever.

I absolutely have to have a hand cream on flights because I can’t handle my hands feeling dry. The Deep Sleep Hand Cream is my favorite because it’s filled with relaxing essential oils and leaves my hands feeling super soft. I use the RMS Facial Wipes at the end of my flight because when I get nervous, I touch my face a lot. It sounds strange, I know. These are infused with coconut oil, and they’re absolutely lovely. A more affordable option is the ACURE argan face wipes. I purchase those at Target.

Somehow, I get sick often when I travel so the most important step on a flight for me is hand sanitizer. I use the Honest Co. Hand Sanitizer (favorite of all-time). I pack a mini WET brush, and the Glossier soothing face mist whenever I want to feel refreshed. It smells like roses and is such a great pick-me-up.

2. Tech

There’s nothing worse than your phone dying while traveling. Therefore, my number one tech essential is my Intocircuit portable charger. This charger will recharge my phone battery from 0% to a 100% twice and sometimes more! This is great for traveling, but it is also great for everyday life. The only downside is that it is a little heavy.

I hardly ever use my laptop on flights, but I pack it in my carry-on bag because it is much safer than checking it inside a suitcase, because we all know that those checked-in bags aren’t particularly handled with care! I keep my 13-inch Macbook Air in this grey laptop case from Everlane and my marble skin is from Etsy! Other than my laptop, I take my Kindle Fire, and my iPhone 6. My Kindle was a Christmas present and it has definitely been my most-used present so far. Also, it’s lighter than the heavy books I usually take and much more convenient.

Now something we all need: headphones. Trust me, when there’s a screaming child sitting beside you or maybe a man that just so happens to have a horrible cough, you’ll be happy you brought them. Most the time I just take my Apple headphones, but I also love my rose gold FRENDS! These are absolutely beautiful and they cancel out all of the noise. I found mine on eBay!

I pack all of my chargers for my different devices in the small pink bag and wrap a rubber band around them so they won’t get tangled. I put my small beauty products in the orange bag, and I put my Kindle in the silver Coach wristlet! It’s the perfect size.

3.Clothing

I like to wear either a big cardigan or a scarf because they double as a pillow and blanket! I don’t really like packing neck pillows and blankets with me because they take up so much space. This cardigan that I am wearing is from Madewell. Also, comfortable shoes are a definite essential! When I’m running down the terminal because I am about to miss my flight, I’m always very thankful I chose the comfortable ones!
