Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

February 25, 2016

Looking for a dessert that is sweet and chocolatey, yet salty and delicious at the same time?

Then look no further — these Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars are for you. They are so easy to make, not to mention, SO delicious. I have a hard time not finishing the entire pan! This recipe is special to me because it came from Granny on a handwritten piece of paper. It is one of my go-to recipes because it is easy, relatively cheap to make, and can feed quite a few mouths (unless you’re like me and want to devour the whole pan).

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

Ingredients

3-4 cups of crushed pretzels (the smaller crushed, the better)
2 1/2 cups of  powdered sugar or granulated sugar (powdered sugar gives a smoother texture, granulated gives a more grainy texture)
1 1/2 cups of peanut butter
1 1/2 sticks of melted butter

Chocolate mixture:

1 small (12 ounce) bag of chocolate chips (milk chocolate or semi-sweet chips)
1/2 cup of peanut butter

Instructions

Take the crushed pretzels, sugar, peanut butter, and butter and mix it all together. Once mixed, pour into pan, and firmly pat down all over the mixture so that it sticks together.

Next, pour the small bag of chocolate chips into a bowl, along with the 1/2 cup of peanut butter.

Melt chips and peanut butter together in the microwave at 20-second intervals (so it won’t burn the chocolate), stirring with a spoon in between each interval.

When mixture is smooth and mixed together, pour the chocolate over the top of the peanut butter mixture. Put the pan into the fridge until hardened. Take out, cut into squares, and ENJOY!
