With summer coming to an end soon, we just had to fire up the grill this weekend.
Since it was just my husband, my daughter, and me, we kept the menu simple with brats and corn on the cob, but we wanted something sweet too, so we opted to try apples on the grill.
I saw a few different recipes on Pinterest, but we kind of took bits and pieces from each to come up with our own recipe and they turned out to be pretty tasty! This is the perfect addition to your next cookout, or it can even be done over the campfire on a cool fall evening. Pears or peaches would be really tasty too!
Ingredients:
3 large apples
¼ cup quick oats
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup flour
¼ cup butter, melted
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
Instructions:
Tear off three squares of foil. (If you want smaller portions, you could even do four). Spray the center with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
Peel and thinly slice the apples. Divide among the foil.
Mix all the remaining ingredients together in a small bowl. Sprinkle on top of the apples.
Fold and roll the edges of the foil to create a tight seal.
Cook on the grill for about 15 minutes or until tender.
Top with vanilla ice cream to serve!
