This is the season of the year that is beautiful!
The mornings and evenings are cooler and the days are filled with sunshine. You can enjoy a day outdoors and not sweat profusely! These are the days that call for me to put my indoor work to the side and spend the day in the fresh air.
And what better way to do that other than a picnic? Picnics can go many different ways — there are casual sack-lunches at a lake, or a more formal gourmet spread at the park. No matter how you pack your picnic, it’s hard to deny that eating outside is a little more fun.
I’ll be honest, part of the appeal of picnicking for me is how cute picnic baskets are. I don’t have a fun traditional basket, so I use a tote, but I do drool over gorgeous baskets with built-in dishes. I will eventually get one and this one just screams spring-time-picnic to me!
I think a successful picnic requires the right kind of food. When I pack a lunch I want it to be already made before I get there. The less preparation at the picnic spot, the better. Also, using things that don’t require to bring additional dishes is great too! For example, there are some creative spring time salads that look delicious, but I would pack each person their salad individually rather than bringing a large bowl and serve it there.
Packing a sandwich wrapped like this croissant is functional and cute to hand to your family or friends!

And a picnic in the spring requires a cute outfit and this pleated skirt would be lovely outdoors! Dainty Jewell’s also has some great spring dresses that would look fantastic while carrying a picnic basket, including the Merry-Go-Round-Dress!

The month of May is the time to get outside and there’s even a three day weekend coming up at the end. Make that the time to plan your perfect picnic, it can be a girls day out, romantic date with your boyfriend or spouse, or a family day with your children. Just be sure to give yourself time in the fresh spring air!
