Rosy cheeks, frizzy hair . . . There is no denying it: summer is HERE.
Summer is my favorite season! Despite the humidity that brings my hair to life in a not-so-appealing way, I love breezy beach days, light and airy summer dresses, and how the sun shines late into the evening hours.
I live in northern Indiana, and our summer so far has been HOT. But that won’t stop me from enjoying a walk downtown or an afternoon tending to the plants on my front porch! If you know me, you know I have a rather large sweet tooth, and it seems to only get worse in the summertime. The heat makes me long for an iced coffee or ice cream treat nearly every time I step outside.
Summer is meant to be sweet, and I thought it would be fitting to share a quick and easy treat you can make at home. This recipe is so simple, you don’t need a special machine to make homemade ice cream. Personalize this recipe by adding a swirl of caramel, a sprinkle of crushed cookies, or even a handful of fresh berries.
Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
Ingredients
- 1 14-oz can sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 tsp vanilla
- pinch of sea salt
Instructions
Combine all the ingredients for the ice cream in a blender and blend until combined.
Pour into a freezer-safe container. If you’re going to add anything extra, stir it in now and then cover tightly.
Freeze overnight (or for about 6 hours) and enjoy later!
