I think it’s safe to say that we all love good comfort food, especially during the chilly winter months. When I think of comfort food, a good roast usually tops the list! I have many childhood memories of sitting around the dining room table eating this recipe. It was given to my mother many years ago by her pastor’s wife, and it has become a family favorite. It is the perfect easy dish for a Sunday dinner, and I hope you will enjoy it as much as our family has!

No-Fail Roast

Ingredients:

3 to 4 lb. chuck roast
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 pkg. Lipton dry onion soup mix

Place the dry onion soup mix on 2 thicknesses of heavy duty tin foil. Place the roast on this and salt and pepper lightly. On top of roast, spoon 1 can of cream of mushroom soup. Two cans may be used if you need more gravy. Fold over foil and seal tightly. Bake at 300* for 1 hour per pound. (Never cook under 3 hours.) Cooking longer will only make it more tender.

The wonderful thing about this roast recipe is that it will make its own gravy. It is especially delicious paired with mashed potatoes and carrots. Enjoy!
